Snow Removal Map and Information

Snow Much to Know!

Do you want to check the plowed road status?

The Municipality’s graders are equipped with ConX Wireless GPS units which have previously been used for internal reporting purposes.  ConX Wireless has recently released an interactive map which can now be viewed by the public.

Click here to view the Snow-Clearing Map

Disclaimer:  The Rural Municipality of Clayton No. 333 does not guarantee that the current road conditions align with the Snow-Clearing Map as high winds and weather changes can impact the municipal road conditions.  The purpose of this map is to provide road snow-clearing information that motorists can use to make informed decisions about winter travel when combined with local weather forecasts.

Tips for viewing the Snow-Clearing Map:

  1. The map is zoomable to a specific area;
  2. The map is updated hourly (please refresh your browser for current information);
  3. Plowing of the municipal roads are listed by colour-coded time blocks:
    • 0-4 hours
    • 4-8 hours
    • 8-16 hours
    • 16-24 hours
    • 24-48 hours
    • 72 hours
  4. If data is not shown or a map is not generated, that means there has not been any snow removal within the last 72 hours.
  5. Highway 8 (North of Norquay to Swan Plain) and the Highway Access Roads into the Village of Stenen and the Village of Hyas will not be on the map as these roads are plowed by the Ministry of Highways.  Highway 8 North of Swan Plain to the Porcupine Provincial Forest Boundary is plowed by the Municipality and will appear on the map.

Snow Removal Municipal Roads

After a snowfall, the Maintenance Department will begin clearing snow as soon as it is safe and practical to do so.  Please be aware, the graders do not go out on the roads when the temperature is colder than -35 Celsius or in high winds unless there is a council deemed emergency.  Please click on the following policies for more detail:

Snow Removal Policy

Cold Weather Policy

All-weather roads and hamlets are typically cleared within 3 days after a snow fall.  Winter storms, including heavy snow accumulations or high winds, may require more than 3 days for snow removal.

Please be patient!  As always, if there is a problem area, feel free to contact the Municipal Office or your Divisional Councillor.
